TWO MORE SECURITY GUARDS CHARGED IN ALLEGED ASSAULT
Denver District Attorney Beth McCann has formally charged two more RTD-contracted security guards in connection with the assault of another man in a restroom at Union Station.
Taylor Taggert (dob: 12-06-1990) is charged with one count of accessory to crime-assault in the first degree (F5) and one count of intimidating a witness or victim (F4).
Victor Diaz (dob: 03-06-1990) is charged with one count of assault in the first degree (F3).
Both were arrested June 4 and the charges against them were filed today.
As previously reported, the third defendant, James Hunter (dob: 01-17-1984), was charged June 1 with one count of assault in the first degree (F3) and one count of intimidating a witness or victim (F4).
The charges allege that on April 20, 2018, following a verbal confrontation with the adult male victim, Hunter assaulted the victim in a restroom at Union Station, that Diaz assisted in the incident, that Taggert was an accessory to the commission of the crime in attempting to cover up the incident after the fact, and that both Hunter and Taggert subsequently intimidated a witness into submitting a false statement.
At the time of the incident, all three defendants were employed as security guards by Allied Universal under contract to RTD. The alleged assault was reported by the victim to Denver Police on May 17, who then initiated an investigation.
Hunter is scheduled to appear on June 13 at 8:00 a.m. in courtroom 2300 for 2nd advisement.
Taggert is scheduled to appear on June 14 and Diaz on June 19, both at 8:00 a.m. in courtroom 2300, for 2nd advisement.
