MAN CHARGED IN VEHICULAR DEATH OF WOMAN

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann has formally charged a man in connection with the death of a female passenger of another vehicle.

Alberto Gonzales (dob: 04-29-1981) is charged with one count of vehicular homicide-DUI (F3), one count of vehicular eluding-death (F3), one count of leaving the scene of an accident-death (F3), one count of vehicular homicide (F4), and one count of driving under restraint (M).  Charges were filed today

The charges allege that on May 27, 2018, after he evaded an attempted traffic stop by Denver police officers, Gonzales failed to stop at a red traffic signal at the intersection of W. 1^st Avenue and N. Knox Court and struck another vehicle, resulting in the death of a 61-year-old female passenger in the victim vehicle, and injury to the 60-year-old male driver and another, 62-year-old, female passenger. He then allegedly tried to flee the scene of the crash on foot and was subsequently captured by police.

The defendant is scheduled to appear on June 4 at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 2300 for 2^nd advisement.
