MAN CHARGED IN STABBING DEATH OF DCPA SECURITY GUARD
Denver District Attorney Beth McCann has formally charged a man in the stabbing death of a DCPA parking garage security guard.
Caleb Schroeder (dob: 12-08-1984) is charged with one count of first degree murder-after deliberation (F1) and one count of first degree murder-felony (F1). The charges were direct filed in District Court today.
The charges allege that in the early morning of Friday, May 25, Schroeder stabbed to death 39-year old Scott Tice, whose body was found by a worker on the fourth level of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts parking garage on Curtis Street in downtown Denver. Mr. Tice was employed by Allied Universal Security and was the overnight security guard at the garage.
Video surveillance showed the defendant in and around the garage area at around the time of the suspected murder. Late that Friday afternoon, the mobile phone equipped with tracking software issued to Mr. Tice as part of his security gear, and missing from his possession when his body was found, was pinged in Aurora. With information provided by Denver Police, Aurora police apprehended the defendant later that evening. His shirt appeared to have blood on it, and a knife that appeared to be covered in blood was found in his possession, as well as an Allied security badge pinned to the strap of his backpack.
The defendant’s first appearance in District Court has not yet been scheduled.
