MAN CHARGED IN SHOOTING DEATH OF WOMAN
Also charged with menacing of girlfriend
Denver District Attorney Beth McCann has formally filed charges against a man in connection with the September shooting death of an acquaintance.
Elijah Lucero (dob: 10-29-1998) is charged with one count of murder in the first degree-after deliberation (F1) and one count of menacing (F5). The charges were direct filed in Denver District Court on Monday.
The charges allege that on September 7, 2018, Lucero shot and killed 20-year-old Briseidy Jimenez-Ortega outside Lucero’s home in the 3900 block of Bryant Street. The victim allegedly attempted to see or speak with the defendant when he shot her and then ran off. Denver police arrested the defendant on September 26. Lucero also allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a gun earlier in the day, prior to the shooting incident. The girlfriend was allegedly with Ms. Jimenez-Ortega when the victim was shot.
The defendant is scheduled to appear on October 4, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 4G for advisement.
