MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH MONTBELLO SHOOTING

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann has formally charged one teen in connection with an early February shooting in the Montbello neighborhood.

Kylvito Garrette (dob: 11-10-1998) is charged with one count of murder in the first degree—after deliberation (F1), one count of felony murder–robbery (F1), and one count of attempted murder in the first degree (F2).  Charges were direct-filed today in Denver District Court.  Garrette was arrested on February 5, 2018.

Garrette is accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Abisai Ponce-Gutierrez and wounding another 18-year-old male teen on the night of February 3, 2018, in the 13100 block of East Elgin Place.

No further information is currently available, as the arrest affidavit is sealed.

Garrette is scheduled to appear on February 15, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 4G for advisement.
