District Attorney McCann Issues Officer-Involved Shooting Letter

Investigation and Decision Re July 31, 2019, Shooting of Trevante Johnson

DENVER—Denver District Attorney Beth McCann’s legal review of the officer-involved shooting that occurred on July 31, 2019, at the intersection of 26th and Curtis is complete. District Attorney McCann concluded that the shooting was legally justified and that no criminal charges are warranted against Officer Andrew Niccum for the reasons outlined in the letter. The Office of the Medical Examiner found the cause of Mr. Trevante Johnson’s death to be suicide as he shot himself.
