District Attorney McCann Issues Officer-Involved Shooting Letter

Investigation and Decision Re December 28, 2020 Shooting of Larry Hamm

DENVER—Denver District Attorney Beth McCann’s legal review of the officer-involved shooting of 47-year old Larry Hamm that occurred on December 28, 2020, in the 1000 block of North Monaco Parkway is complete. DA McCann concluded that the shooting was legally justified and that no criminal charges are warranted against Officer John Repjar, Officer Crystal Thomas or Corporal Jeffery Jenkins for the reasons outlined in the letter.

“This was an incredibly chaotic incident that spilled into the busy streets of Denver,” said DA McCann. “Larry Hamm was a threat to public safety and in this tense and dangerous situation, these officers were justified in using deadly force against him.”

DA McCann will present and discuss her conclusions about officer-involved shooting incident of Larry Hamm and the officer-involved shooting incident of John Pacheaco during a community meeting on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend by clicking here:  https://bit.ly/3uB941t. Due to the current health pandemic, this live event will take place over Microsoft Teams.

DA McCann’s decision letter to Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen is available for review at www.denverda.org.
