Darsean Kelley Sentenced for Murder of His 17-Year-Old Half Sister

DENVER—On January 23, 2020, Marnee Kelley-Mills was 17-years-old when her body was found in a trash can inside a duffel bag. She had been stabbed in the neck. On Friday, October 21, 2022, Darsean Kelley (current age 28) was sentenced to serve 27-years in the Department of Corrections for his half-sister’s murder.  On August 1, 2022, Kelley entered a guilty plea to murder in the second degree (F2).

“Along with the court, I offer my condolences to this family who have suffered greatly from this tragedy,” said Denver DA Beth McCann. “Our prosecution team has shown great care and sensitivity with how they handled this case and I am very proud of their professionalism and grace.”

Case number 20CR000668 was heard in Denver District Court and presided over by the Honorable Judge Edward Bronfin.
