Convicted Murderer Jonathan Nuno-Mijangos Sentenced to Life in Prison
DENVER — Denver DA Beth McCann today announced that Judge Ericka Englert has sentenced Jonathan Nuno-Mijangos to life in prison without the possibility of parole in connection with the death of his wife, 24 year-old Jasmin Cigarroa.
On Wednesday, August 28, a jury convicted Nuno-Mijangos of first-degree murder, assault in the first degree, tampering with a deceased body and abuse of a corpse.
In March of 2021, Jasmin’s body was found near a road in a rural part of Adams County. It was later determined that she had been strangled.
“Jasmin Cigarroa was a hard-working, intelligent and loving woman whose death at such a young age, and at the hands of her husband, was a terrible tragedy. I want to commend the members of my office and the Denver Police Department who worked on the case, as well as the members of the jury, for holding Mr. Nuno-Mijangos accountable for this senseless murder,” said DA McCann. “I hope the result of this case provides some measure of comfort to Jasmin’s friends and family. It is also my hope that this case reminds everyone in Denver that there is still much more work to be done to address the scourge of domestic violence.”
