MAN CHARGED WITH VEHICULAR HOMICIDE IN TWO DEATHS
Denver District Attorney Beth McCann has formally charged a man with the deaths of two people in connection with a car crash at I-70 and I-225 early last Sunday morning.
Ernie Crawley (dob: 02-16-1979) is charged with two counts of motor vehicle homicide-DUI (F3), two counts of motor vehicle homicide-reckless driving (F4), one count of vehicular assault-DUI (F4), one count of vehicular assault-reckless driving (F5), and one count of DUI (M). The defendant was arrested on February 18 and the charges filed yesterday.
The charges allege that in the early morning hours of February 18 Crawley struck another vehicle at eastbound I-70 and southbound I-225. Two passengers in the vehicle that was struck, 24-year-old Brandi Wilson and 21-year-old Sean Moler, were killed in the collision and the driver of the vehicle was injured. A passenger in the vehicle driven by Crawley was also injured. Upon contact by the police, Crawley exhibited slurred speech, his breath had a strong alcoholic odor, and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. Police investigation determined Crawley to be the at-fault driver causing the fatal crash.
The defendant is scheduled to appear on March 8, 2018, at 8:00 a.m. in courtroom 2300 for 2d advisement.
